Hi guys. Am working in London and want to know the ideal places to shoot in and around London. Such as the safest places, quietest places, best places to shoot on the Thames etc. Have been reading on the web that some photographers have been questioned by police under the prevention of terrorism act. So just wanna know the places to go and not to go.
Hope someone can give me some great hints and tips as to where to shoot in this great City.
Cheers guys.

Have a read of this thread and then just go along and enjoy yourself.
All this business about people getting stopped all the time is being blown out of all proportion to the actual number of events. There are thousands of people taking photographs of London every day who never get stopped.

I have been asked what I was doing when using my rangefinder, SLR, DSLR, but not my compact.
Watch out at Canary Wharf. The security are dressed up liike terrorist police in look alike flak jackets, etc. The first sign of a tripod and they swoop on you. Take your smallest and/or lightest camera and plan a quick get away!
Seriously, I have taken photos late at night by the Thames in the City and had no problems (this was a few years ago).
Places to go? The city is your oyster (no pun intended - London commuters will understand). The City at weekends is empty and has a different feel. Waterloo bridge offers some wonderful vistas. There is also the docks, City airport - Sunday is busier than Saturday. If the wind is in the right direction there are plenty of opportunites. Hampstead and the Heath. Little Venice. The list is endless.
