Having got a bit envious of 8x10 users I started to wonder about 5x7. I can fit a 5x7 back to my Wista 45SP. I wondered whether anyone else uses 5x7, whether one can get hold of film, whether there are any commercial processors etc.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to fit a 5x7in back to your 5x4in camera, but there are quite a few old 5x7 models around.
You can still get the film too. Try Retrophotographic. They have quite a range, including Adox 5x7in. I get my 9x12cm sheets from them. I'm not sure about commercial processors though - I do my own (BW) in the sink.

............no silly, he does "black and white" in the sink....................which really annoys the hell out of the wife who's trying to do the dishes in it at the same time!

It is indeed the wooden one, sorry - but you've left out the link to the metal one...

There are still good choices for black and white in 5x7, but I think that currently there may be no new colour films available. Also, film holders are currently very scarce, and as a result fetch strong prices when they do show up. Oddly, 10x8 holders are a lot easier to find and there is more film choice. Go check www.largeformatphotography.info for a discussion on the merits of 5x7. It links to a Q&A forum, where you'll see a lot of recent angst over film holders.

That one just confirms the back for the metal one. Teamwork's web site only shows the cherrywood one and Wista's site is in a foreign language.
I'll have to learn how to embed the URL rather than list it in full.

Thanks, I haunt the site. You've confirmed my fears about film availability I just wonder how long it's going to last with 4x5 and even more so with 8x10. I can't afford a Betterlight back.

Is this Rittreck of any interest ? Haven't seen in listed in the UK, though.

Looks a really interesting camera although I don't think I could bring myself to selling my Wista and two LF camera would be excessive. Thanks.

Struth. I stand corrected, but look at the price! I'd expect about four cameras for that

Last I heard you were expecting a Mamiya 6 for £1! Clearly a born optimist. :-)
