Hi Claire - just spoken to Elliot - he has my module now - going out special delivery tonight - so now I am getting the jitters!!! There's no pleasing some folk - sad I know! Anyway - I will let you know how I fared tomorrow night, after I've come home from my night school Photoshop class - don't some people lead exciting lives! Anyway I'm hoping this is now going to spur me on to really give some thought to Module 2 - just been toying with it up until now. In a way it may be more difficult working within the confines of set parameters rather than having a free rein - I don't know - but it should really help the learning process. Don't get me wrong - I really enjoyed doing module 1 & it was good that it made you think about the photos you were taking - but as I have said before I found the self-assessment difficult - being the first module it wasn't easy knowing how much or how little to write (given the max 100 words)- & also to be objective about your pics is not easy. Guess what it's raining today - but this is the norm for Greater Manchester! There's a really good bird of prey sanctuary fairly near & I have already spoken to them & they have suggested quiet times when I can go & also an idea of when they fly the birds etc - I was hoping to go today but the weather has put the mockers on this. Think I will look round the house & see if I can get inspiration for things I can use for the aperture priority excercise mod 2. You sound as tho' you're having fun with doing your house up - my fella (otherwise known as tripod wallah!) & me are starting on his kitchen - this is a major project - we have been planning it all since before Xmas - just putting the final specs together now so hopefully we can then tweak the final estimate & work might just start a bit later in the year. Plan is I move in with Amadeus (my mad Bengal cat!) when it's finished & once I get my house sale sorted out. I really messed up Feb 29th - jokingly warned him I might propose & then got cold feet. Asked him the next day what his reaction would have been & he said he would probably have accepted - but as I didn't ask him I would never know! Oh well - that's life - perhaps I'll stick to the photography instead!!! What are the 5 topics that you have eventually decided on for mod 1?

hi there
Oh no on the proposing thing ... I was going to ask but knew what the answer would be so haven't bothered asking this time.. we have been together 8 and a half years and 2 kids so we may not ever do it oh well .. Maybe one day..
I think I have decided on, Action (my seagull), Rough with the smooth (Bark piccie), four legged friend (daisy the cow), Face Value (the house - Maybe ?? ) just need one more !!
But EEK... don't know what !

I liked your house - reminded me a bit of the painted houses in Buenos Aires. I know Gary said he wasn't overkeen on the rubbish in the foreground - but I actually thought that it added to the sense that someone had tried to customise their place in the midst of surrounding dereliction.

Difficult one that - I think it probably fits more into face values rather than land.

Just thought - couldn't you do something with one of the kids for face values?

I like the first one of Ronan - he's a real cute one. Still prefer house best tho' - but I'm sure that Gary will have some input later!

BACK!
Well of the three photos of your boys I'd say maybe 'Ronan' but not 'Ronan again'. Mainly because 'Ronan again' is focused on his hair and not the face. Portraits generally need to be focused on the eyes or else they don't work very well.
The 'Ciaran' image is good but I'd suggest cropping it down slightly...

Oh I know. My daughter will pose away like she's a catwalk model, but she puts a cheesy grin on.. not a normal smile.
My son on the other hand, has a great smile, but get the camera out and the likkle brat won't stay still or even smile... I end up putting the cameras on burst mode and taking loads of shots...
