Minolta 5000 with 35-70mm lens and 2000xi flash?
      #605784 - 03/02/2008 13:13

Hi all.

I have recently acquired this camera set up. I have no idea how good it is, but it looks to be working. Does anyone know how much its worth? I will sell it and was wondering if anyone knew a guide price?

Also how do I check it works ok? Looks in excellent condition and i have put some batteries in there (without film) and the shutter works, as does the flash.

thanks in advance

Look on eBay at the completed listings for a similar set up.

Check it out using a Colour print film, and get this processed. (Some Tescos will scan to CD for 97p extra, along with their standard processing. ) This will check whether the film rewind motor works. (My 7000 was fine apart from the rewind motor - cost me ~£55 to be fixed.)

If you're really keen, try it with a colour slide film. (Much less exposure tolerance, so a stiffer test.)

Ordinary 35mm colour print film (e.g. from Tesco or Jessops) will be fine for a basic test.

Use something like Fuji Sensia or Provia 100F 35mm colour slide film if you want to check the exposure accuracy. (Sensia is cheaper - I think there's both 100 and 200ISO available.) The slide film will need E6 processing - Peak Imaging at Sheffield are reliable for E6. There are other labs around, and back pages of photo mags should have adverts etc.
