Fuji Velvia in hot climats?
      #591789 - 06/01/2008 12:56

Hi Folks

I am off to Guadeloupe in March of 2008 and was wondering if I could take my film camera plus some Velvia to capture the glory of Guadeloupe.

Will the conditions be too hot for Velvia? I do know that once I am there that I should keep it in the fridge!

Am I way off track here?

Thanks

Jools

How long are you going for? For a week or two, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just for two weeks.

Best to stick them in the fridge?

If you can, but don't worry too much about it. I've in the past frequently had quite a lot of (old) Velvia around for a couple of weeks in hot and/or humid conditions - Egypt, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India etc - without a problem.

It's really the exposed but undeveloped film that might give problems. As others have said keeping it cold is a good thing but I think keeping it dry is even more important.

Take some silica gel, well dried, with some of those zipper bags.
