I'll open the commentary shall I?!

The guidance states "You should include your camera or some reference to your photographic interest ". How do I include my camera and use it to take the picture of myself (given that this is a self-portrait competition)? There can only be so many pictures taken in a mirror. Anything taken by anyone else is, I assume, invalid and not everyone has more than one camera.

Finally, the opening two images seem to ignore the above guidance (or maybe interpret it in a way that is beyond my comprehension).

This'll be an interesting one!

I think the first two may have been shot using a self timer so I guess we're ok there(I'll give them the benifit of doubt )....but I don't see the reference to the subject being a photographer either

Actually the camera was in my outstretched hand! I couldn't think of an unusual way of showing myself and include the camera, so I just went for it anyway.

Have to admit I was a bit confused at that brief?

You have an 'or' situation there - you can either:

- include your camera

or

- some reference to your photographic interest

In your case you could photograph yourself holding a flower, for example.

If I were Daft Biker, I might well do a mugshot of myself with a wasp on my nose ...

Anyway... what fun is photography without the occasional smutty comment?

I appreciate the "or" but I interpretted the guidance as "you can include your camera or anything that shows your interest in photography" rather than "...anything that you like to photograph"...?

I inferred that the intent of the competition was "me, the photographer".

I'm actually going to try to get a self portrait done for this one, but I'll wait for my new gigs to arrive first.

A wasp on my nose? Hmmm Had tried one with my new Spyder hat but I have a pic from last year that fits the bill nicely....am not quite sure a wasp on the nose is in quite the same league of daftness

I've let both slip over the last few years. My interest in photography is back and I've been picking up the guitar again over Christmas and bashing out some horrific noise. I need to search out some live music venues locally, I do miss it.
