Jessop's Pan400 in Rodinal
      #564520 - 05/11/2007 17:47

Has anyone tried this combination? Just trying to find a development time and dilution formula. The Massive Dev chart lists 7mins at 1/25. Does that sound about right? It would be helpful to know who makes this film, opinions are divided between Agfa, similar to APX400, and Ilford, similar to Ilford Pan400. Both these films require different development times in Rodinal. Jessop's website doesn't seem to be much use in this case.

I have used some of the Jessops Pan 100 and the 400 but not in Rodinal : I find they used AGFA film emulsions; you can see the black cassette pot with the pull-off lid is Agfa.I have got very good results with the 100 film in home-made Crawley's FX4 formula diluted 1+1 for 8 minutes at 68oF.

Thanks Pete, it's from a bulk roll so I'm using reloadable casettes. I found I just about had enough DDX to process it in, so I used that as I've used it before. 12 mins usually does it. Never tried mixing my own developer, apart from cafenol, does intrigue me though.

Assuming this is 35mm, I don't much like faster films in accutance developers because of the grain but that's a matter of taste.

I don't mind a little grain in mono shots, but it's not as bad as you might expect.
