Hi all,
Has anyone else noticed the availibility of film at the moment, especially Fuji slide film.
I have ordered provia 400x from mx2, and they have been out of stock know for over a month. I phoned them up, and they said fuji couldn't give an arrival time.
7dayshop, have loads of fuji slide and ilford out of stock, and even fujis own lab on the web show out of stock for all SENSIA, PROVIA 100f.
Whats going on?????????????????????

Retailers apparently have to order stocks of film from Fuji a long way ahead, of course it is difficult to anticipate demand accurately, so some emulsions are in short supply. I have just checked Speed Graphic's website, they show most Fuji slide films as being in stock, in 35mm anyway.
If you are thinking of Kodak, the 400 iso variants, are in my opinion vastly inferior to their Fuji equivalents, but the 100 iso stocks seem to be fine, although they have different characteristics to Fuji. I tend to use Fuji, but do use Ektachrome EBX on occasions, the colour rendition is saturated, but rather more neutral than Fuji Velvia 100 or 100f. It is a bit like a slightly more saturated Provia (to my eyes anyway), but may be slightly grainier.

It's a bit of a pain that 7DS are out of HP5. I'm down to my last 5 rolls in 120, I may have to order from somewhere else soon

I've just found here... http://www.mailshotsuk.co.uk/ do 120 Hp5 for only a few pence more than 7ds, and the postage is about half.
They also deliver to a different address to the invoice address as well, so I can get stuff delivered to work as well.

It is all down to demand I'm afraid. The accountants frown on stock left unsold for any length time. Due to several bad experiences in the past I will not deal with the Channel Island Companies now. I get all my film from either Mather's in Bolton and Mailshots who are based around Stoke on Trent. As cheap as any I have come accross and they always seem to have in what I want. next day service as well.

I agree - Mailshots, from my own experience, offer far better customer service than their channel islands rivals.
And they usually phone you up after you've placed your order to ask if you want any out of stock items putting on back order or cancelling, so you can at least try elsewhere if they are out of stock.

I use Discountfilmsdirect.co.uk - They usually have a good range of films, good stock levels and fair prices. Service is usually next day (they are in Nottinghamshire). .T.

Calumet are only 20p more for a roll of Neopan Acros 100 compared to 7dayshop. I'd rather pay 20p/film and bring it home in my bag the same day, whilst supporting the only decent camera supplies shop left in Edinburgh.

I'd go with Mathers or Mailshots any day - much better service, and next day delivery.

Ive been encountering the same problem as well in Brunei. Films are no longer a part of their sales inventories. Developing the negative also in a brink to extinction. We a lot before, now I heard that only one place develop the negative. If the trend continues, Ill be forced to move to digital.

I know this thread has recently been dragged up from last November but I have just bought my first load of 120 film, and the first film I've bought in years, from 7DS. It was cheap (£1.55 a roll for Ilford FP4 and £1.90 for Fuji 160C) and arrived today. I only ordered it Thursday afternoon.
