Hello all,
Do you have any idea why when using Ilford Hp5 for my college course in my Minolta dynax 404si , why I would only get 26 or so exposures instead of 36 ? Thanks for any replies , as I am baffled, I will find out if they have exposed correctly when I develop them at college tomorrow !
Thanks again

Did you accidentally activate some form of mid roll rewind? Had the film actually reached the end?
You are sure it WAS a 36 you put in and not a 24? (done this myself)
You might have got a dud canister from the end of a loading run that came up short...

Sounds highly probable to me, you usually get 1 or 2 more exposures than the marked length ....

Yes : I get 26 or 27 even from a 24 shot fillum; by loading in the dark I can regularly get 27 so I bet it was a 24 length.

I'm scanning a lifetime of photographs and have just come across some Kodak colour negative film. It is the same width as 35mm but only has perforations on one edge and then just one perforation every 32mm. The image size is 30mm high by 40mm long. I don't even remember having a camera to take it. Can anyone identify the format?

If you're interested in dates, Kodak withdrew their last 828 film (colour neg, Kodacolor II) in 1985.

So, how did this turn out??? Was it really a 36 exp film with part unexposed (or bad frame spacing) OR, was it actually a 24 exp film?? Some of us would love to know . .

It's possible that the film was a little too tight in the cannister, and feeling a slight increase in tension, the camera assumed it had come to the end of the roll and rewound it. I've had that happen a few times with a Canon T90.

Manual wind is obviously the way forward with film.

Yeah, motor winders are just a good way to run down batteries. Also, when used in cold dry conditions, generate enough static to ruin your photos.
Motor winders are convenient for those who've had their right thumb amputated, though.
