I can't believe I forgot about this (but so did everyone else!), I was so intent on trying to get mod 5 finished.
This is Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire.
I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon there talking to loads of people I'd never met before about what I was up to, while I was waiting for some blue sky. For this photo I was using my 11-18mm Tamron lens (16mm at f8, 1/1250 and ISO 200) trying to get the flowers in focus and the hall towers as well. Through the view finder it looked OK but as you can see the lens hasn't quite managed it - the towers aren't sharpe. One lady with a compact was very interested about the course so we might get a new recruit sometime!  Lisa.

That's a lovely image Lisa, I recognise it from your mod 5 set. I love the viewpoint and the great splash of foreground colour

Here's one (of the few  ) I took on holiday
This was taken at a small cove a few minutes walk from the caravan site we stayed at. Its used by local fishermen to launch their boats and we've always called it Fishermans Cove but it's real name is Porth Meudwy which means 'Hermits Port' (I think!  )

That's very nice Chris. I like the way the boat and the hedge lead to the hut and the sea beyond. Pity there wasn't a bit of sun to brighten it up but hey ho that's the way it goes. I'm ready for a holiday NOW!! but have 6 more weeks to wait. Lisa.

Lovely image Lisa. Plenty of foreground interest and colour. You mention an issue with depth of field, just out of interest, did you calculate the hyperfocal distance or use the 'third in' rule?

Hi Paul,
I can't even say 'hyperfocal' never mind work it out!  OK I own up, I know what it is and roughly how to work it out but being very lazy I just normally use the 'third in' thingey. If you really look closely at the photo (which you can't on the forum) you'll see that the flowers in the very left bottom corner aren't quite in either. f11 might have fixed it but the Tamron lens isn't very sharp at the edges so I was presuming it was that. I could be wrong, so if anyone knows better you can put me straight! Lisa.
PS I've been thinking of changing it for a Sigma - how's the one you fished out the river Paul?

This was taken at the entrance Cave House, Cushendun, Co Antrim. To get to it you have to walk / drive through a cave! Cave House is a convent, on their side of the cove they have a huge solid iron gate, so if it is closed there is no way in, unless you climb over a cliff! Luckily when I was there the gate was open so I was able to sneak in, just a sg=hort distance to get this shot. But coming out of the darkness of the cave, the bright green of the ferns was incredible.
