I just had another look at the intro to this month's comp

I quote --
>This months theme is "Colour" as used in shop signs, Ad boards, banners, general environment ......<

I read this as implying the subjects should be man made objects, yet I notice a lot of natural items, mainly flowers, could we have some clarification.

Cheers MIKE

I know what you mean, Mike, but I interprated "general environment" to include everything else, nature or man made. (Not that I've entered myself, yet).

I spend a lot of time in my garden so I include it as part of my general environment. My flower pic is from a rhodedenron currently in bloom in my back garden. If there were exclusions they should have been specified. Lisa.

I agree with Lisa. There was no specifications as to what cannot be used.
Yes there are many flowers but the idea of "Colour" with banners is that "Colour" draws one in.
This is the same with flowers. It "catches your eye"

When I made the suggestion I had in mind that images would be about man made subjects as well and was looking forward to seeing how people would interpret it. However, all the monthly competitions have a very wide remit so that everybody has a chance to enter.

In the end it's Garry who will decide whether or not the entries fit the theme.

That's exactly how I read it Mike but the term "general environment" leaves it open to wide interpretation and that is what Gary likes to see so I guess all those flowers do have a place

Edit Ah! pipped to the post by one minute by the cool man himself!

Thank you kind sir.

Taken late afternoon a few days ago - against the light to exploit the saturated translucency of these particular flowers.

Sigma 180mm macro on a Canon 5D - tripod flat to the ground and angled to find a strong diagonal.

Great image there samsam, I think your in with a chance with your first post in months!

Thanks!

Only problem is, its dissapeared. I hosted the photo on the the gallery at the photoportal and the server there broke two days ago so its been down ever since - currently being fixed.

Do you think I can get away with reposting the photo? - I'll host it at fotopic this time.

Or, maybe someone with the ability to can edit my post (I'm now locked from editing it) and change the URL to http://images.fotopic.net/ynpjc7.jpg

Pretty Please

Sorry about that - it's still not up yet.

Interestingly, the server is owned by a programmer from Fotopic ...

FP, PP! All you need is AP & B... With a little TLC, not too much GBH, and the occasional SWALK.

If I could get round to taking one, I could post it at TOPP or even here. And I've got Fotopic, FlickR, AP Members' Gallery and even my own site as options - it's getting out and shooting that's proving tough!
