This thread is for posting of FirstView pictures for the 1st of March, 2007. Please read the main About FirstView thread, if you have not done so already. You may post only one image here, and it must have been taken on the 1st of March, 2007. Please remember to include the basic details - time and place of shooting, and what we're looking at. If you want to put in a short paragraph explaining what's going on, or why you chose that one, or whatever, then please do, but keep it brief and relevant. Any discussion beyond that can go in the 'Comments' thread. Please do not post comments or other replies here - they will be deleted. This thread is for FirstView image posting only.
The picture thread will remain open for a couple of days in the first instance, so please try to get your contributions in promptly. People who are perhaps away from home, or need time for film processing, or are otherwise unable to post their images in the initial time slot should pm me - I'll re-open the thread later in the month for late additions. In all cases please remember that the forum image posting rules apply (see HOW TO POST IMAGES - MAXIMUM SIZES - Free progs - Tutorials...).

Thursday's my day off work - I spend it photoing buttons for my mum to put on eBay. Clive - this is not taken with the 70-200mm VR, but my 18-70mm button photoing lens (1/45 @ f3.8 @ 29mm - and that was a squash) Wish I had your desktop!

Out snapping in gorgeous weather at a favourite local spot today. nothing special about this shot - it just caught my eye. The road to be closed is not the ancient Ox Drove over Cranborne Chase that this sign was next to, but a by-way some miles away, which I thought was curious.
Anyway, details are, Cranborne Chase, 14:11 on 1/3/2007.

I'd just got home from work at 5pm, when looked out of the bedroom window to see a wonderful rainbow over the Wicken Stones to the east of Biddulph. It wasn't in my garden though, so perhaps I wasn't so lucky! Lisa (Fuji Z1)

Spent today digging in straining posts and knocking in fence posts in Peppercombe, North Devon. We should get the wire up on this side and all the posts in on the other side tomorrow. It took all of last week to clear the willow that had grown along the sides of the hedge bank and we used the cut brash to create a dead hedge along the top of the bank. We cleared scrub from this area last year to restore the grass land and will graze cattle (3 Belted Galloways) to keep any regeneration under control.

2pm, Brondanw Gardens, Llanfrothen, Gwynedd.
I'm in the middle of trimming a lot of topiary here (1.5 miles linear) with sections of hard cutting to renovate overgrown areas of yew hedge.
Straight after i took this shot it hailed for a few minutes.

Well, it has significance to me and it's a rare sight - my study after it has been redecorated and the carpet cleaned and before I move my clutter back. This is where I do my online shopping and my Photoshopping.

The memorial statue for Tony Hancock is a funny old thing. Slab of metal with holes drill into it. These holes are filled with glass which meant to produce a rainbow effect when the sun light is on it. Some of these glass pieces have fallen out over the years. This is the view though one of those holes.
