HELP! Kyocera S5 repair - London
      #234441 - 02/06/2005 18:44

Hi Everyone,

I really hope someone can help me.

A friend's camera (Kyocera S5) was damaged in a motorbike accident last weekend.

The screen on the back is cracked, though still lights up - but no picture. The camera still seems very capable of taking pictures, video capture etc - just the screen is damaged.

Does anyone know where I can get this repaired economically? Central London would be the most convenient! To replace the camera will cost £260+, which seems so excessive when it's just the screen that's broken.

The screen inside, is a CASIO 2K16VD006083, or so it says on it once you've removed the back cover.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

This won't be the answer you want to hear, but I'd be very, very surprised indeed if it were possible to get this repaired economically. Most good retailers will be able to send the camera on to a repair service, but really, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I'm sure someone knows someone in the industry... I appreciate that the majority of the cost is sending it away, getting estimates, getting parts, labour... but really all it needs is a new screen and someone with the skills to fit it.

Morning Billy,

Most LCD Screen replacements that come through our shop generally cost
in the range $150 - $275 CDN with parts and labours prices being fairly
close.

You might try out this list of repair shops

or I would recommend going straight to the horse's mouth

Hope this helps.

Try this www.alphadigitalservices.co.uk I met Frazer at the weekend and he did say that Kyocera/Contax servicing was available.... though it's hard to imagine the worth of this particular repair.
