Well it's good to be here!
      #230503 - 12/05/2005 11:43

I guess we'll get the hang of this place and sort out the various "bugs" as the days go by. I'd appeal to everyone to be patient and if you have a problem then report it to Paul the forum moderator who seems to be working flat out to resolve all troublesome issues.

I think I could DEFINITELY grow to like this place......................now where's the bar?

I do miss the red, I must say. Other than that - and now the moderation has been turned off - there''s just that profile glitch to deal with that I know of.

Cheers

It went live about 8pm ish. The guy who was supposed to change the DNS had gone out for a long lunch (US time). I'd taken the web team to the pub by that point, hence not spotting the moderation issue until the morning.

By the way, I'm actually into photography - see here (2nd page is my recent stuff) - so I might be hanging around in an unofficial capacity too.

Nice to have another snapper amongst us Paul. Also good to have somebody on the inside that can fix up probs as we find them.

What *is* a pain in the bum... [Re: Lounge_Lizard]
      #230541 - 12/05/2005 12:47

...is that when you go from the Forum to, say, Lounge to see new posts, then pop back to the Forum, all the new posts that were originally in eg Help Team are gone, so you are never going to know which forums have new posts in...you can onloy ever go to one room, so all other rooms that had new posts will automatically not have by the time you come out, if you see what I mean??

I just don't think we understand how new posts are flagged or should be flagged.

Mmmm, Im probably missing something but I was under the impression when I am seeing a red (2) for example it means there are 2 new messagews in the Lounge. Now I might bwe in the Index and seeing Lounge(2) Help Team (4) Something Else (3) so I know thats how many new messages are in each.

So I go to the Lounge and read the 2 new messages, but when I go back to the Index it doesnt have Help Team (4) Something Else (3) etc anymore even though I havwent read those other rooms new messages, all the red numbers are gone, (because they are *not* new since the last time I visited the *index*).

In the old place every time you went to the Index it would still know whether you had visited the Help Team since it last knew there were 4 new messages there, so if you hadnt been to the Help team yet since last time you were in the Index it would *still* say Help Team (4) in red.

Or is everyone else still seeing something else that shows them there are still unread posts in some rooms that I havent cottoned onto? Sorry Im a bit thick with computers, I leave it all to boyfriend cos he does it for a living...

Ah, I see what you mean.

If you click on the boards that did have unread posts, you'll see them in that board as unread.
