Hi everyone, I don`t know if many folks have looked at the course reading list, however, this week I received a book from the list - "The Family of Man" by Edward Steichen (I hope the name is correct). A stunning and inspirational piece of work. I don`t think I would have appreciated it as much a couple of years ago before getting into photography. Thoroughly recommended. Chris |

Hi Chris, It is indeed a truly inspirational book. I bought it when I first started the course. Each time you pick it up, you see something different. Cheers Ormina |

Hi Ormina, I thought I was alone with my thoughts - glad you also enjoy the book. I hope others will find time to have a look at it. Chris |

Hi everyone, I am enrolling on this course next week. Meanwhile, it would be good to know what people found was useful within the wider reading and why. Thanks all |

The course manual is pretty good and covers most of the technical stuff you need to know. Of the recommended reading material I have only bought the "Family of Man" as I stummbled on it in a book shop. If you need inspiration then such a book can help as it presents images of some very human scenes. Also picked up a 20year old book by John Hedgecoe (sorry if its not spelled correctly), once again covers the basics well. Beyond the books, you will learn more by practicing and experimenting yourself. Chris |
