Hi all, Have any of you got the old Minolta 200mm f2.8 White lens and use it on the SONY A700??? What are the results like, and can you recommend this lens with this camera, and also the older Minolta Dynax 7 35mm Film. Thanks Graham |

Quote: Graham, Not yet, and when they do come up they go for nearly new prices, especially the HS APO 200, however I continue to hope. I have got the 300 f/4 HS APO and it is stunning on both my 7D(450mm equivalent) and on the Dynax 7, TBH I don't think that any of Minoltas Pro (White or Black) G lenses will be bad all, the ones I have are (to me any way) exceptional. So if you have one or are expecting to get your hands on a 200 f/2.8 I do not think you will be disappointed. I do believe that the 200 f/4 Macro is considered to be a better lens, but again even more expensive. BTW if you have a cheap/reasonable source for 200 f/2.8's I'd be awfully pleased if you'd share the details with me

I remember seeing a few s/h Minolta AF lenses on offer in the AP a few weeks ago, and thought seriously about buying one of the shorter primes. They certainly didn't include exotic white lenses though! When I used Minolta exclusively for all my photography some years ago, the meagre supply of the more aspirational lenses, particularly the long teles, was one of the reasons that I found moving to Canon less painful than I feared. I had hoped that Sony would tackle this area of very high price and poor supply, (I bought a Dynax 7 last year.) but we're still waiting. |
