This book has been given away by Sony at various promotions. As far as I'm aware it's not for sale but here is a link to a PDF download. It's quite large and definitely unsuitable for dial-up connections

Its such a shame these are like rocking horse poop. I had to write to Sony customer services as I recently bought a rather expensive lens that had no instructions, so while I was at it I asked for a lens brochure. Apparently their customer service centre also has none, citing that it was "being updated". Its a shame that they can't at least get one chained to a desk at every Sony store, I think it would really help raise the profile of the range. |

Quote: I'm on dial-up and it downloaded within the hour. I use FDM (free download) and it's excellent for this sort of thing - and for much bigger files which take longer than my 2 hour limit. The contents of the book look good too! But, how good is in-camera stabilisation with a 300mm on the front? At least it looks as though Sony may put some competitive pressure on Canon and Nikon. (But just watch out for what Sony do to their batteries with their info-chips...) |

Quote:Quote: I'm glad you managed the download so well over dial-up ![]() Stabilisation works well with any lens I've used, 10mm to 400mm and everything in between. The camera knows what focal length lens is in use and sets the sensor stabilisation accordingly - I reckon on about 3 stops advantage. The Info-Lithium batteries are great. One battery type (NP-FM500H) fits all the Alpha cameras and vertical grips, a100 to a700. They give an accurate read out in percentage of life remaining. Last for ages too

Quote:Quote: That's good to hear. My point in raising this matter comes from my experience in the domestic camcorder market. Sony's later camcorders only operate with genuine Sony batteries, whereas earlier models could accept "after market" batteries with a saving in cost. So now there are batteries on offer which come with a power lead to supply power to the charging terminal - in addition to plugging in to the camcorder's socket. They look attractive until you read the "small print". So far, I've only used genuine Sony types with 4/5 success - 4 report their charge state correctly, the 5th. is weird, and all attempts at "resetting" it have failed. |
