Hi I am about to replace my dead IXUS 800IS - suffered from a fatal Lense Error code after 2 years. Prior to this I had an Ixus V3. I am looking for the best blend of strong optical zoom and high image quality, which I realise is a tall order when looking at a non DSLR. I have read numerous reviews and I am started to get confused. I have considered the: Panasonic TZ5 Panasonic TZ4 Panasonic FX35 Canon 860IS Canon 960IS Canon 970IS Guy in Jessops at the Trafford Centre last night recommended the Sony DSC W300. I have considered a Canon G9, but think it might just be too bulky for my requirements. |

Strong optical zoom suggests the Panasonics to me. You won't get much in the way of manual shooting options but they take a mean picture. They are a little on the heavy side, though |

The FX35 is a lovely little camera, if you want manual control the FX500 is also worth looking at, though I don't like the feel of it. Big zoom wise, the TZ range are still lovely. |
