Recently picked up a secodhand Mamiya 7 and 43mm lens - this shot is off my first roll (FP4) - no great work of artr but I'm pleased with the quality

Re: first Mamiya shot

I like the grainy texture in the sky but the composition doesn't work for me.

What was to the left of the frame? I get the feeling when I look at it that it would be better if the main building in shot were positioned further to the right of the frame.

Perhaps you could have moved a little closer too...to cut out a bit of the road in the foreground...

Re: first Mamiya shot

Thanks for the comments Steve.

Take your points but I didn't see it that way, there was nothing to the left except more of the building. I might take out a bit of the road but I want to retain the curve of the grass verge.

I might go back and give it another go , I was really trying to run a film through to test the camera.

Re: first Mamiya shot

Is a Mamiya 7 a 6x7 camera? Rangefinder?? It certainly looks like it works whatever it is....look forward to your next work of art

Re: first Mamiya shot

Thanks Andrew

It is indeed a 6x7cm rangefinder - I have gone right off SLRs (with or without a 'D' in front) and now have 3 rangefinders - 35mm (Voightlander Bessa), 6x7 (Mamiya) and panoramic (X-Pan).
