Unable to view images

Hi,
I'm unable to view the images posted on the forum, all I see is a little red X, anyone any ideas how to resolve this?

I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer in Windows XP.

Re: Unable to view images

Hi Chris,
Everything seems set ok, I still can't view images.
In particular, the post, "I have reached 1500 shots with my IST*Ds...here are....(600kb)"
There is a lttle Red X adjacent to "some shots that got me in the neighbourhood" more Rex X's that appear next to 1) and 2) and another litle Rex X that appears immediately above Jack's signature.

Internet Explorer seems to be set up ok, I'm baffled.
----------
Update.
I've just installed Firefox, the little Red X's don't appear.
No photos appear against 1) and 2) in Jack's post.

You are reading old posts - images get deleted or moved by their owners and that is why the red cross appears

Chris ...time for me afternoon nap!

Re: Unable to view images

Lucky you, I'm still with the rest of the morons, (this includes virtually all the Professors, Lecturers) all of us still getting along by copying and imitating the works of others.

I'm still struggling with this digital counting thing, I do wish I had more fingers to count with.
To fix the position of the decimal point and to calculate the size of the answer, I normally use the powers of ten notation. This way I know what the answer size is, big as a brick or as large as a house.
It works with analogue, but I'm not sure if it will work with digital, lack of fingers is the problem.

Morning Jack,

Yes, it really is morning here in the UK.
Your pictures are great, now why would I have second thoughts and about what?

To-day's the day the camera is supposed to arrive, I'm as excited as any 11 year could be. My first childhood lasted until I was 40, at 72, I'm now in my second childhood and
I'm still up for a game of cowboys and indians.

Morning Roy,

Glad to hear that and, presumably, by now you have your IST*Ds and have taken
some pics with it which begs the question: "So, how is it working out and do you
have any pictures posted yet ?

Re: Unable to view images...Here are some images

Morning Jack,

For the past several weeks I have been undergoing medical tests. Not being told the results of these tests caused me many sleepless nights and I worried myself sick.
Perhaps this worry had a lot to do with my Camera selection problems!

Last Thursday, I got news that I have Bladder Cancer, you have no idea of the relief, I finally know what's wrong and can deal with it. I now sleep like a log, and life's good again.
You just have to take this on the chin, nothing you can do about it. It's like being in a plane knowing for certain it's going to crash, no point in screaming, just sit back and relax. Many years ago I was in a plane stacked over Idlewild in the states, the planes couldn't land because of a storm. The plane encountered an air pocket and fell thousands of feet before encountering 'thicker air'. That brought a shine to the forehead!
The surgery is due to take place on 5th August, nothing to worry about, it's been caught in the early stage and the Uroligists are very confident of a good outcome. It's a commom problem and they have lots of experience with the surgery.

Re: Unable to view images...Here are some images

Morning Roy,

WOW!! That is probably the most relaxed response I have ever heard of when being diagnosed with Cancer and I really must commend you for that. Kind of
reminds me of when my Dad had an Angina on Christmas Day in 1979 and I had a big (1 year) trip planned to Europe on Jan 7,1980 and the first thing he said to me when I visited him at the hospital was: "You are going on your trip!!" Mind you he had a similar attitude several years later when being diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer. He, like you and myself (I hope), was very much a fatalist.

But just let me add that my thoughts are with you and I know you are going to do fantastically (new word??) if only just to kick my ass, or at least attempt to, picture wise with your 20D

Take care and please stay in touch.

Re: Unable to view images...Here are some images

Morning Jack,

Thanks for your kind words.
I think it's realism rather than fatalism. In any event, it's not my nature to go in a corner and weep.
The hardest thing was not knowing what was wrong, this really screwed me up. The mind's a funny thing, (well my mind is kind of weird), I hate not being able to figure something out. In this instance, I couldn't, because I didn't have all the facts. Once given the news, everything was instantly at peace and I couldn't sign the surgery papers quick enough.

One observation about this forum, I do like the banter, but does anyone ever do any work?

I used to live near Toronto and my Son was born in Canada and holds dual nationality. He had a skiing holiday in your neck of the woods a couple of years ago.
I understand that there's been a big temperature change in the Toronto area. seems that they got rid of their snow plow fleet. Used to be that if you left your car on a snow plow route, your car got mangled!
I have fond memories of Canada, one amusing memory springs to mind, the Candian Tyre store on Yonge Strret (the longest street in the world) the assistants there used to wear roller skates, it was a sight to see them weaving around carrying a complete muffler!

Right you are...I'm always getting my "ism's" screwed up .

I think that much the same for most people...even though some won't admit it...with me being one of those type of people. The less I know, generally, the happier I am .

About Toronto, I went there once for a week after a university year ended and don't remember much about the trip...other than seeing Maple Leaf gardens, having "deep dish pizza" and drinking a lot..course, I was much younger then

Does your son live in Canada, specifically the Toronto area, or is he living in the UK? Next time, he comes out to the Vancouver area let me know I will try meet up for coffee. How about yourself, any plans to head over to the colonies once everything else gets dealt with, of course?

Best Canadian Tire story for me, is whilst in Italy, allegedly, some Canadians were going around the country using Canadian Tire Dollars as Canadian currency . Of course, I don't know if this actually true or just an 'urban myth'?

Take care and all the best.

Re: Unable to view images...Here are some images

Morning Jack,

Can't use 'Hi, Jack', for obvious reasons!

My son had a look for what work is available in the Vancouver area, he's a Professional Engineer. The major stubling block for him was lack of experience with the Canadian Building Codes. I would have been happy for him had he moved to Canada.
He's a Project Manager with a major International Management & Construction Consulting Company, here in the UK. He lives close by, here in Harrogate.

I would love to visit Canada, nice people, the Canadians, I'll have to see how the finances pan out. My control of the financial strings has slackened since returning to the hobby. I'll need to see how things pan out. Trouble is I'm easily tempted, I like nice things.
My main hobby has been Model Engineering, not having the room for a workshop, I got rid of all my equipment before moving here, some three years ago. Bored stiff, I decided to return to my first love, photography, but boy, it's an expensive hobby, especially when you make the wrong equipment choices like I've done.
