Most overphotographed locations?

Just wondering which locations you think have been done to death. Even better, if you know of any unique angles or creative variations on the norm, please share.

I'll start the list with:

Buachaille Etive Mor, with river in foreground.

What else would you add?

The Buachaille Etive Mor, the London Eye, the Buachaille Etive Mor, the Great Court of the British Museum, Eilean Donon Castle, Ashness Bridge, anywhere there's a wood with bluebells in it, and the Buachaille Etive Mor. Plus I agree with the suggestions already made.

Did anyone mention the Buachaille Etive Mor? Must get that one in.

Simple - in most cases, it's a very photogenic place and a great angle. It's just the overfmailiarity amongst us hardened consumers of images that's the issue.

My neighbours house from my front door step

And like David I would like to know where Buachaille Etive Mor is. Although if it's much further than the house opposite I might have to give it a miss.

Nick your pet hate leaves me bereft of subjects, I specialise in photographing me taking pictures of me in the mirror. That is of course when I'm not photographing the house................Oh dear, time for another wee drop. By the way Will, great news. You were right, I have stopped drinking Gordon's Gin completely. Yes, I know that might be difficult to believe but it is true. So this year could you replace the usual bottle for Bombay Sapphire....please.

Re: Most overphotographed locations?

Can't remember where I read the article, it was some time ago, but the author suggested that if you were to gather together all the tourist photographs of the Eiffel Tower, the pile would probably be larger and weigh more than the object itself . . . but that shouldn't stop anyone taking another purely for themselves.

Stangely enough, I was flicking through a book (wish I could remember which one) in the library this afternoon and I came across a photograph of a crossroads in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background and I though 'what a nice shot' - but then it was taken by Lee Friedlander and looked similar to many of his taken on similar junctions in American towns . . . apart from the the afore mentioned tower. I suppose we all have some photographers whose work we never tire of

End of ramble.

Re: Most overphotographed locations?

Come to think of it, maybe the problem is people who 'push' their pictures too much - posting them all over the place, submitting them to every stock archive they can. I had a look at Alamy the other day, there were loads of very average shots on there I thought. The weak stuff really waters down the good stuff, you have to go through several pages sometimes to find a really good image.

Interesting. My own photographs are purely intended to give me future pleasure of memory, so I'm not fussed at all how many other people have photographed the scene. Sometimes, I may look at others' images and very often pick out improvements they exhibit over my own photographs at a technical level, and I enjoy learning from that. But I always prefer one of my own pictures - even if it is completely rubbish - to someone else's image of the same scene. The enjoyment comes in recalling other non-visual emotions or feelings that only my photograph can inspire in me.
