Changing avatar

Having great trouble changing my avatar. I can change to a stock avatar or no avatar but not to a replacement one of my own - several of which meet the 80x80 max restrictions and pixel counts etc.

Any ideas?

This is one of the 'delights' of the forum software, as you may know you can use either jpeg or gif file formats for your avatar. So if your current avatar is in jpeg format, if you wish to change it, the replacement avatar needs to be in Gif (or vice versa)format with of course the size restrictions applying.

Re: Changing avatar

Also remember to hit refresh your cache (hit F5 I think) I've changed my avatar in the past and haven't been able to tell the difference as my computer still remembered the old one.

(if this doesn't make much sense I'm tired, been at work til late and had a drink!)

<confused> I've seen three different avatars in the last two days; a statue head, a roll of film, and now a mandolin...

That's just the laudanum.

The statue was the original I wanted to change.
The roll of film was a stock avatar - trying different formats to clear the thing blocking the one I wanted - despite F5'ing.

Fen has now sorted it and the 'mandolin' I wanted is now there (Thanks Fen) except it's a boukouki

Laudanum, on my salary! P'ah, chance'd be a fine thing... Mind you, Boots don't do it any more.

Ah, that explains it, thanks. Anyhoo, glad you're sorted, and apologies for the carp software.

You can get it in any supermarket or greengrocer's - just eat more lettuce! :-)

Ah, but you forget, I've become a member of the 'I want it, and I want it NOW!' generation.

Besides, AFAIK the jury's out on the lettuce/laudanum thing, but even so I'm not inclined to spend time extracting it in the quantities I require.

You can't even get kaline and morphine now. What's Victorian junkie to do?

You planning to be the next Samuel Taylor Coleridge or something? :-)

Tell me about it!

I recall a Will Self short story where the main character is alleged to syphon off the morphine content from an 'undisturbed' bottle of K&M and mainline it (there were many bottles of kaolin (sans morphine) in his kitchen). Once sufficiently spaced he'd wander down to the model village adjacent to his garden, and get the fear!

Been there, almost done that (without the poetry & prose, and oft without rhyme, reason, or philosophy too). I'm not necessarily proud to say 'You name it, I've tried it'. However, Laudanum passed me by - I just wasn't born in time.

Got some of that in the shed in an old bottle. Also (seriously) got a bottle of mercury!

But you can get Diocalm Dual Action, which is pretty much the same thing after it's been chewed up & swallowed with water. Note, Diocalm Dual Action, not plain Diocalm which is just an expensive way of buying the usual, ineffective, 2mg loperamide capsules.

Ah, but can you tie a length of string around the bottle's neck and swing it around your head as a centrifuge to separate the morphine out?
