October 07 - Favorite Photo

With Lisa busy beavering away at mod 7, she's forgotten the favorite photo thread...!

I'll get it started this month then...

Took this at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp memorial in Germany whilst I was there with my TA squadron a couple of weeks back. Its a close up of the memorial wall. The small stones are Memory Stones for the dead that are placed on memorials and gravestones in the Jewish tradition.

It was a wierd experience. One of our group had heard that birds don't fly there but I saw a few in the trees around the outskirts but none in the open space where all the huts used to be.

You can view some of the other pics I took here

Re: October 07 - Favorite Photo

I hadn't forgotten about it entirely Chris - I had a vague thought yesterday that it was now November. I'm fine with someone else starting it off and with such a brilliant picture.

I know we always say we like all the photos in this monthly thread - but I really think this is very good. The slightly odd angle shows up the pebbles and somehow makes you really look at it and try to work out what it's all about. Well thought out.

Lisa.

PS i was actually looking at some photos I took on Sunday for mod 8.

Re: October 07 - Favorite Photo

Thanks Lisa. Unfortunately I was a bit rushed as the rest of the group weren't togs and were getting far ahead of me! I'd have loved to taken a lot more pics than I did. We did get separated later anyway (they went off to the russian cemetary when I wasn't looking) but I wasn't worried... I had the minibus keys in my pocket!

Yeah I know what you mean about going somewhere with a non photographer - you don't want to be a pain but get a bit frustrated that you can't stop and take pics.

Anyway, here's my contribution this month. It's a bit of a cheat as I took it on Sat Nov 3rd - but it was either this or another Wales photo.

Nottingham City Centre taken on the Fuji Z1 that lives in my handbag. The black plinth at the front has slowly moving water on the top which runs down the sides and there are water jets on the Square side. The city square is commonly known as 'slab square' as it used to be covered in paving slabs but was poshed up last year.

I went to buy some new shoes for winter but now have a blister on my heel as my right foot is slightly larger than my left. New shoes are hell!

Lisa.

PS looking at this again it's got a lean to the left! knew I shouldn't have had that brandy! hic!

Blimey... that's quiet for a saturday in Nottingham. Must be ages since I last wandered into the city centre from the station, where I work. Didn't know they'd got the fountain up and running again. They had to close it shortly after the opening ceremony - because it started leaking.

That black slab looks interesting. Lots of potential in the reflections!

BTW, there's nothing wrong with pics of Wales

It was 9.30am Chris, it usually starts livening up around 10am. I like to go in, get what I want and leave before it gets too busy. Lisa.

Unusual view for a girl...!
Why doesn't Mrs APchris see it the way you do?

I'm turning into a hermit, Chris. Can't stand crowds and only go into shops if I have to. Isn't the internet wonderful. Lisa.
