Welcome to students, new or old, and also to any visitors. Please click the link below and browse our images.
Student Gallery
Students who wish to have their images included in the gallery, please upload your images to a Flikr/Photobox or other online image storage provider then reply to this post and include the URL to your online gallery.
Many thanks to Mark (Almark) for his time and effort in setting up and maintaining this gallery on our behalf.

Folks,
May I offer some ideas and suggestions on how this will work.
First
Please bookmark this URL
http://www.almark.net/digitalimaging.html
I will update it, so remember to refresh the page.
Second
Prepare your images in a gallery or set. Then upload them to the Internet, (with Flickr or whoever). If you need advice on how to do this, then ask in the forum lounge.
Third
Send me a 'private message' (pm) within this forum. I need to know the following:
1. Your user name on the forum,
2. where your images are on the internet. For example http://www.almark.net/photos/module1/
3. what module your link refers to or if it is a general gallery site
Please Note
The purpose of this Student Gallery Page is to highlight the work and ongoing progress of students on the Digital Imaging Course. I will not link any site that is clearly a commercial venture.
I can only assume that comments about students images in this thread will be most welcome. This is how we, as students, can learn from feedback. So please feel free to have a look at the images on the various galleries and if you have something to say - then say it! (Either here or on Flickr, etc.)
The only reason I ask for a 'pm' is simply so that I will be able to see when an update is required, as soon as I log on.
Anyway, I hope this helps..

In your browser go to the menu bar and select bookmarks (Firefox2 and Opera8) or favorites (MS IE7). A 'bookmark' is the same as a 'favorite'. I assume you do use Firefox or Opera? subject continued in the lounge.

Hi Folks,
my almark.net site is down, and i am in a dispute with the ISP. The ISP has started 'negotiations' by pulling all of my sites! Normal service will be resumed in the next few days, i hope!

Banista, after being polite that's is what I have done.
Lisa, many years ago I helped a guy set up his Internet business by getting him people to buy domains when I designed the web sites. As a result he hosted all my sites for free. UTV Internet bought him over for £1.5MILLION, and they honoured my free site for years, until they got a new account manager... who simply refused to listen and then wanted to cahrge me £150 per year.
Understandably I have walked.

Sounds familiar in a way. I worked for a start-up ISP called IPCenta in Munich. We were building an internet data centre from scratch. It was a very promising business, but very badly managed. The "managers" and I use that word very loosely spent money like it was going out of fashion. They bought a small ISP which provided EUR 50/month access to private people. The first thing they did was cancel all those contracts as they felt there was no profit to be made from them. They only wanted "big businesses" , most of whom had long term contracts with other companies. They managed to get perhaps 10 mid sized companies, including a VOIP company from the Uk who provided low cost services to Pakistan.
After 18 months IPCenta went bust.

Folks,
I no longer have my 'almark.net' site up. As previously discussed, the hosting company 'did the dirty'. Now, as I have refused to pay 3 times the going rate, they have gone into slo mo.
'Your request for ... is being dealt with, however paying customers must come first."
Sounds like bribery to me.
- Either pay us or we will transfer your domain when we feel like it, and if it takes us a while, well you can understand that we prioritise on existing customers...
So sorry folks, I hoped to have this sorted, but it looks like I will have to take an action in the small claims court.
Although, in November 06 - if you can all remember - we were all promised a AP gallery. Unless I have missed it, this promised gallery has yet to appear.
It we still have problems I will set it all up (again) on new web space. Please let me know if you want this.

Hi,
I was sending a PM to Laura and took the opportunity to ask her about the students gallery. Here is what she says...
quote - 'The gallery is almost done - what we had before Christmas was quote poor compared to what Flickr offers and I was a bit embarassed to go with it. Please bear with us - it won't be more than a couple of weeks now I promise.'

Hi folks,
I have moved 'almark.net' to new web space, and now have 5GB of webspace. So I can offer plenty of webspace for the gallery.
Sorry it took so long, but I had to go to court as previously discussed. And although I was adwarded costs, I am still waiting for a CD mirror of my domain. So I may have to re build the gallery.
I am more than happy to do this, but I think 'the promised gallery' should have been here by now. (Maybe it is).
So if you guys want me to build you a Gallery on my web space, I am happy to do it.
