Yashica FR1 - where to find a remote shutter release?

Can anyone suggest where I might find a shutter release cable to fit my old FR1? I'd prefer to deal with a uk supplier and would not use Ebay.

Cheers

Re: Yashica FR1 - where to find a remote shutter release?

I am not familiar with this particular model, but do have Yashica/Contax equipment. The socket looks the same as those on other Y/C bodies. A standard releae will apparently fit and work, but is not recommended as it can cause damage. The Contax cable release should therefore fit, these are reasonably easy to source on the used market, outside of auction sites. A trawl through the used retailers should yield something. Certainly one local retailer in this area had a used one in the cabinet this morning, along with a couple of Contax cameras and some Yashica lenses.

Further to previous posting. Contax cable switches are used on these cameras. Cable switch L needs an adaptor R6SJ, having unearthed and checked the instructions from mine. It appears that cable switch S is a direct fit for Yashica FR cameras and Contax RTS. There seem to be a few of these around, having done a quick Google enquiry.

The FR used the same electronic shutter release as the original RTS, it was a 2mm coax and not the later type used by Yashica and Contax (that was as described above of a screw in design but I never tried to use a conventional shutter release in mine)
