Colour slide processing.

I have just received a set of colour slides returned from Jessops processing. Do they do them or farm them out? To be honest they are rubbish! there is a distinct colour imbalance, leaning towards green!
I know they are wrong and not my memory playing tricks because in a few of them the background used is my garden wall, this is rendered and painted with stone paint which is a pale shade of yellow - not green. They are also a tad pale as if either over exposed or done in the 1st developer too long for the temperiture. The camera used, my Nikon F4 has never shown a tendency to over expose before when using C41 or B&W film
The film was Fuji Sensia, and was processed within 4 days of actually taking the pictures.
Does Jessops have their own lab or do they farm them out to be done elsewhere? What are other peoples experiences with Jessops processing?

This sounds like chemical contamination; if some bleach got into the dev it would have that effect. I have never used Jessops but if course they do NOT have their 'own' lab as processing is a small part of their business; they sub-contract it out. I now use dlab7.com in Guernsey, cheap and very good. I have sent some very outdated Fuji 400 slide film which came back with a low d-max and cyan colour ( I was given it so did not know how it was stored ) but all other films have been perfect, including MY STORED outdated films; good d-max and colour balance.

The E6 process is extremely sensitive to contamination of the first developer with the second (colour) developer. Even vapour contamination may cause a loss of density and a noticable colour cast; which sounds very much like your description of the problem.
Equally, contamiantion of either with the bleach solution may cause simailr results.
I would take the matter up with Jessops, although I'm afraid there's nothing much that can be done with your film now.

By way of an update on the colour imbalance, I telephoned the number given on the pre paid processing envelope and explained to the person at the other end (Note. a real person not a recording!)But from there things went downhill fast.
'Send us the slides back and we can see what we can do with them!' Yea, right. Just what exactly?
This lad was unable to say what but 'they had some very experienced people in the lab'.
Needless to say I didn't send them back. Anyone who can give an answer like that really does work for Mickey Mouse!
I did send another film to them to be processed. (I have a number of pre paid envelopes to use)and this time they came back perfect. Same batch of film, same lab. I think someone is not being very consistent with the work.

I'm surprised they didn't blame it on 'film', and try to sell you a shiny new digital wonder! They must be slacking.

jessops do have their own lab, its not on site as they have to send e6 and b&w away (not enough of it to justify doing it on site) but its their own place alright. processing is actually quite a chunk of their business.

I have fuji do my fuji slide films, when I don't have the time to do my own. They have never let me down in several decades.

Don't Jessops use Standard Photographic, the same people Fuji (and Boots) use?

I would use one of the specialist E6 processors advertised in AP, such as Peak Labs, or Fuji.
Alternatively, if there is a local professional lab (try the Yellow Pages), they may do it. I haven't had a film developed for a while, but a local pro lab did E6 processing for me in about an hour, for about a couple of quid. Unmounted, but that was fine as I was going to scan them in and that made it easier.

yes, I have had a lot of problems with Jessops processing, I find my slides are comming back scartched, so I changed to Peak Imaging and got a great set of slides back. Peak are the "ants pants" which is even better than the "dogs you know whats" owing to the fact that a pair of ants pants would be very difficult to make and even leprechauans could not manage it.
