How to use TLb without a battery

Hello, completely new here, just acquired TLb without battery and would like to know how I can use it without... do I still need external light meter or can I wing it?
Thanks.

Re: How to use TLb without a battery

Sunny f16 rule is what's normally recommended i.e. if you're shooting a sun lit view with 100ISO film, then your shutter speed is 1/100(i.e. film ISO) at f16, and similar at other apertures - 1/500 @ f8 etc., 1/250 @ f11, 1/125 @ f16.

I imagine the TLb used mercury cells for its meter. Try the Small Battery Co. for possible modern replacements. If there is an error, setting the film speed to a (suitable) different value should provide correction.

Pity that the highest shutter speed is 1/500 from memory. Not bad when slide films were 25ASA, but not so good when they're typically around 100ISO.

(My mother had a TLb for many years and got excellent K64 slides from it.)
