Abstract

Just wondered about a definition for the theme. There's some great pictures this month, but some of them are easily identifiable objects, whereas others are definitely abstract, that is, there's no way of knowing what they are unless they're carefully studied, or clues are provided.

That is also my idea of abstract, Mojo.

I found this description which encapsulates it perfectly:

Quote:

A trend in painting and sculpture in the twentieth century. Abstract art seeks to break away from traditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereas more traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.

Having read that description, I totally agree with what you are saying.

Re: Absblack

Apologies in advance to Ian_A - I noticed your sans serif all caps title at the bottom right hand corner just after I'd finished trying my own title everywhere on the image and decided on bottom right hand corner! - maybe it was subconscious - anyway, I've put my title in the top right.

I was photographing a job lot of wine bottles for a web site that I'm building. This one was left over, so I changed the background from white to black and experimented...

Actually, I showed it to some camera club members last night and they said it was definately not "inside a judge's mind" as it was "colourful, imaginative and creative" and that a judge's mind would probably be "a grim and cardboardboxy place" ...

Re: I like

Thus far - and there are seven full days to elapse until the final curtain - my choice would fall between: El Sid; IanG; Iloca; RustyKnight; LoungeLizard; Lisadb and CarlM. Were the category to be 'surrealism' then DaftBiker would surely sweep the board. Were it to be 'Creative Advertising' then Zou would be the unchallenged Grand Master. Whoo-eee! What a tough job it's going to be this month. Some really challenging pictures up for judgement.
