Thanks Mark... glad you like it. This is actually one of the few surviving genuine Phase 3s that raced at Bathurst in 1971... being driven by the same driver: Murray Carter.

Looks like we were all queuing up outside waiting for the door to open on this one!

Really like ian_g's - I suspect it's one of a few taken but the various elements in the one you've chosen really make it engaging and absorbing - and definitely convey speed.

The timing on aiwa_yamaha's is spot on too; a really nice moment captured.

This is going to be a big 'un!

I see someone else was at this year's Festival of Speed!!! Really like your mono presentation of Nick Mason in the Auto Union, Weasley... gives a nice period feel to it. Just a shame he has to wear that modern helmet... but at least it is an open faced one!!! :-)

Top picture Kev. Mini Motos are so fun to ride. I bet they are even more fun to ride like that rider in the picture.

You're right there...
I gave up riding road bikes to race minimoto, thinking it would be cheaper...
How wrong was I!!!

Some of the kids ride like Rossi, Look out for a kid called Bradley Ray, he was on the 5th gear program last year, he's moved up to 70cc bikes now and is winning constantly...

Anyway, the guy in the pic is my mate Adam...

Re: Aug07 comments "Movement"

Yeah looks fun. I'll have a look out for him, but to be honest i don't track along with mini moto racing. I'm a top motocross fan (AMA in america). If you do know who Ryan Villopoto is, he is my favorite rider.

When i ever seem to go on mini motos lol i always get a cramp in my leg, not good.

AlanW's Grand Central Station

Alan enters yet another stunner...

I was going to stick in my version of this, but on a side-by-side comparison, I'm going to dig out an alternative.. :-(

Guess we must have been standing in almost the same position....spooky !

Hi Andrew,

I was standing on the staircase at one end, set the camera down on the handrail and used the self-timer to fire the shot (no tripod!) - I remember I took three from each end to cover myself before jumping on my train . . . . I was staying with friends in Hastings-on-Hudson, once the home of Lewis Hine.

Looks as though you had better light when you were there

Here's another version

they were taken in May 2000.

Thy are not square though, they just look like it from the panning. That area is a recently landscaped open-cast mine. The white things are plastic tubes round small saplings (I guess to protect them from the vast herds of roaming wilderbeasts that West Yorkshire is famed for!)

I'm not so sure of that as you are. There are a few excellent images entered but there are as many that are not. I feel that some entrants are having a laugh by entering hand-held 'shaky' shots, some where the flash has failed (or not been selected) and quite a few failed panning shots. Sorry, JMHO

...say it as it is Bob

OK, so I admit it. I shot the telly on a 1 second hand held exposure, but to me it created something I had not tried before, so I hope I at least get a point for effort - if not, I'm gonna have to jump off the nearest cliff

Just so long as there isn't a certain SW based tog waiting with his big Canon to take a sequence of pics, merge them seamlessly, and enter it in the same compo.

That'll be mine too then.

Again, mine was taken deliberately and I achieved exactly what I wanted. It won a transport photo competition last year so it can't be that bad...

So long as you're not on my face ...

I might not enter next month, architecture doesn't interest me much. October and December look interesting though ...

I haven't got a clue what Garry will go for this time, but my favourites are (in no particular order):

Come back here - Datawise
Velocity - Ian G
Stretch - Rhys Hardwick
Leap of Faith - Jon Baker
Ooooops! - Tony Cro (with a crop to top and bottom of image)
Whoosh - PhilW
