... getting into the realms of cheap but good lenses, for the A mount, there are of course two quite well known ones. The 70-210mm f4 "beercan" and its big brother the 75-300mm "big beercan". Both date from the early days of Minolta autofocus, 1985 - but still work extremely well on Sony Alphas. BUT there is one more lens, nowhere near as well known but very good, the Sigma 75-200mm f2.8-f3.5 push-pull zoom. Now if you want a VERY cheap quite fast chunk of glass this might be the answer
