I doubt it will have the SSM technology of the Sony nor the 'D' (ADI) capabillity, however Marc, it might be worth your while checking out the Sigma specs just to see what they say, If you don't require the aforesaid technologies then you might want to search for a S/H Minolta 80 - 200 f/2.8 G, which will probably be more in the sort of price bracket you'd be more comfortable with,

Just a thought, but, good luck with the hunt for class glass, if it were me I'd save hard for the Sony (am actually doing so now, but dependant on the new full frame DSLR price the savings may go towards that, oh dear so much gear so little savings
