Anyone in central London today with an evening to spare and (possibly) a camera could find some interest in visiting the Smithfield Nocturne cycle race around the Smithfield Market area. It’s quite a big event started (I think) last year under the auspices of Mayor Ken to promote cycling by bringing a continental style event to the capital. First, minor race gets away at 16:10 and the big boys start at 19:45. The event finishes at 22:10 and the whole area is of course awash with pubs, bars and eateries. Easy to get to with Farringdon tube and rail station a couple of minutes away so weather permitting it could be a pleasant way to spend a June evening. Even, possibly, take a few photos |
