I use a Manfrotto tripod and Lowe Pro bags. Pretty much "standard issue" photographic kit.
Am sure there will be other that use Gitzo or Benbo tripods and Tamrac or Crumpler bags.
There are plenty other good brands worth considering but the above will hopefully give you an idea of what kind of prices good quality kit cost (not exactly cheap!).
