Looks like you had a good day at the airshow too! I see you managed to get to the front line, with wife and two kids in tow I didn't get that close...we were also displaying in the vintage car section - this year we had the newest 'old' car there

, but at least it gets you in free and a decent parking place!

The photos I took were with a D300 and the Tamron 200 - 500 lens - most were hand held at 500mm...heavy, but got away with it on some shots with fast shutter and high ISO. I used manual focus as it just wasn't quick enough for aircraft.

The Tamron is a good lens, not the fastest, but for the price you can't go far wrong. I bought mine from a guy in Canada on Ebay, like new for half the price. I don't use it very often, but it works well for wildlife too.
