Before entrusting them with a precious roll, I would be tempted to shoot a 24 exposure roll as a test. I would suggest that you include shots to test their colour rendition (some colourful clothes?) and some shots of people to see how well their skin tones turn out. When you get the negs back, have a good look at them to see if they've been scratched or have any residues left on them.
