about 26 exposures from a 36 exposure HP5 plus film ?

Hello all,
Do you have any idea why when using Ilford Hp5 for my college course in my Minolta dynax 404si , why I would only get 26 or so exposures instead of 36 ? Thanks for any replies , as I am baffled, I will find out if they have exposed correctly when I develop them at college tomorrow !
