I've not tried but I dont think there is any way you can use them with modern lenses even in manual mode as there appears to be no way to control the aperture either manually or electrically.
However if you dont want to buy older lenses, then Jessops were selling their 'own brand' auto tubes in Pentax fit for £30+ pounds. These will work with your modern lenses but without autofocus of course. I have a set and they are fine.
