I cannot see how you could activate the iris without an electrical contact. I have an oldish 3 piece set of Pentax extension tubes which has the mechanical link to operate the iris. I use them with the lens on 'A' and set the aperture in camera. You will probably need a lens with an aperture ring with the 'A' setting for semi auto, or use manual stop down on the other.
