AZ-4 Zoom

Does anyone recall how well received this camera was? I recently uncovered some old slides from Panama, France and elsewhere that I took with my AZ-4 and was pleasantly surprised. It died a few years ago but was much loved during the ten or so years I had it. Looking at it now, it's a bulky thing (weighs about a kilo) but then it had a 35-135mm zoom, built in flash, a full mirror assembly (it was a fixed lens SLR) and a snazzy (and surprisingly useful) adjustable handgrip.

According to Wikipedia it appeared in the Batman film, but there is hardly any info on the web about the camera. Was it considered good/bad/average, and how good was the lens? I remember it as sharp and being a good lens, but that was before I got into 'proper' SLRs.

Any info would be much appreciated.
