I've spoken to Olympus and the support person told me that liquid damage usually results in unrepairable damage. Sending the camera to them is still the only option as they might get me a reconditioned camera (same model or a similar model - SP320 and SP310, also discontinued). They quoted me a reasonable price so I guess I'll give it a go....
