	This does sound like an extreme case of the first black frame problem, this is caused by a manufacture fault with a component in the auto focus charge assembly, my 7D was just out of warranty but it was repaired free of charge as it was a known manufacture fault. I took mine to JP Service Solutions at Johnsons-Photopia My 7D has been faultless since this repair, Good luck
