Hi all,
[ First post - be nice ]
My A200 arrives soon... and somebody has donated to me a Jessops 280AFM flash, with a Dynax hot shoe fitting. I'm lead to believe it'll fit because the connector is the same, but I've read in some places to be careful about electrical compatibility.
Is there any reason why the 280AFM flash would cause damage to the A200 body, or is it OK to use?
Cheers,
James

It will fit your Alpha and as far as I'm aware shouldn't cause issues electrically

As long as it is the Minolta flash fit and you don't try to force anything it should be OK, however, I'm pretty certain that the 280AFM is a TTL only flash unit and as such will not give you the results you may hope for, unfortunately, DSLR's require Flash units designed to work with Digital and for the Sony/Minolta system you are looking for ADI flash units such as the Minolta 3600 HSD unit or the Sony equivalent.

Hi Ron,
Ah... I see. Well, if it fits I'll see how it goes. Flash photography isn't right at the top of my list, but since it was donated there's no harm in a bit of experimentation.
Thanks for the advice,
James
