What Next??
      #628370 - 17/03/2008 12:20

Hi all

Having owned my A100 for just about a year, was wondering what you all think should be my next camera. I do not have any area of expertise, I'll (attempt to) photograph anything, from spiders to Red Arrows and low light indoors to landscapes on a summers day.
So, would you recommend the A200, A350 or A700, assuming cost was no object.
I'd obviously keep my A100 in reserve in case of emergencies, or as a second camera to cut down on having to change lens.

Thanks in advance.

Why do you think/believe you need a new camera? The question you've asked suggests that you haven't identified what feature is present in any of the models listed that you feel is lacking in your current model - nor how it's presence would enhance your photography.

Of course a more cynical person would wonder whether it's just a case of having to have the latest bit of bling...

I think the A700 because of the faster frame rate, not that the fact I have one influences this.

And yes, keep the A100 as reserve, just like I have with my Dynax 7d, when that dies I will see what Sony has to offer to replace it.

Hi Steve

I also had my A100 for year when I bought the A700. As I do paid work from time to time, I felt it prudent to have a second camera. At that time (just before christmas), The only other Sony body available was the A700 and when I tried it I loved it. It's so easy and intuitive to use and the weight and feel was perfect for me and of course, with the vertical grip, it looks the B*ll*cks when out on a job!

I haven't tried out the other newer models, but I suspect they are closer to the size and feel of the A100,so I'm still happy with my choice. Of course, you're requirements may be different and if money is no object, happy choosing (You could always wait for the A900 full frame version later this year )
