As promised, all 66 finalists from this year's International Garden Photographer of the Year competition, as published in AP 17 May, are now online in our Gallery section. Have another look through them and pick out your favourite image. When you have your top photographer in mind, come back to this thread and vote for him or her. Be sure also to reply to this post with your name and for whom you voted.
Voting ends at 5pm on 21 May - IGPOTY announces its winners the following day. If your favourite photographer wins the overall title of International Garden Photographer of the Year 2008, your name will then go into a virtual hat where you will have a chance at winning a signed copy of renowned garden photographer and IGPOTY judge Clive Nichols' book, 'The Art of Flower & Garden Photography'.
We will publish all the winning images and bios of the photographers in AP 31 May.

I voted for Diane Varner. Great shot. Loved it. Also liked Pawel Bieniewski's. But then, what do I know. I always get it wrong anyway.

Whilst the idea of doing the gardening with a camera sounds rather unusual, there are certainly a number of cameras I can think of, which deserve to be buried in it, the main contender being Dixon's Kowa 35mm SLR of the late 60s, early 70s with a leaf shutter, it's design inspired by Zeiss's Contaflex. The 'reliability' of this camera was such that it just managed to keep on working until the warranty had run out, and then users discovered that not even the most masochistic of repairers would touch it with a barge-pole, for it was likely to commit Hara Kari again within a couple of months.
