This week we want to find out about your film and digital camera usage. Still on the subject of film use, we want to find out how the user group is split. Although many of us have our roots in film the next generations will be growing up in the digital world.

"Use both".
What would be interesting is the proportions. At the moment I'm around 50:50 in exposures taken.

I'm "use both" too, but it's now 95:5 in favour of digital.

100% digital for me. I ran a film through my old camera 2 years ago when I first became re-interested (is there such a word?)in photography. I very soon got a DSLR after that and haven't looked back since.

I have answered 'use both' because strictly speaking that is true but I mainly use digital.

I would probably use film more if I had a D3 because I wouldn't need to carry as wide a range of lenses to make it convenient. Basically with the D2 and F5 I need to carry 12-24, 18-50, 28-70 and 70-200 plus 1.4x converter. If both bodies had the same field of view I could manage with just three lenses 12-24 or 17-35, 28-70 and 70-200. I stopped using th F5 on holidays a couple of years ago because it wasn't practical to carry the amount of kit I needed. I would like to get back to using my prime lenses too. Whether I will buy a D3 is another matter entirely.

Mostly use digital now and when I do use film it's usually C41 which I send away to get dev/printed. I very seldom develop my own monochrome film these days and I can't remember the last time I used my enlarger to make a print..................though I still retain the capability to do so.................why I haven't ditched all the film paraphernalia probably has more to do with nostalgia than any sound logical reasons for keeping it all!

I mainly use my D SLR, but also carry a film body around for when my digi's batteries go kapput. Ratio about 95:5 in favour of digi.

You could probably get another spare battery for the cost of your film and development...
I want to say both..that would be my first reaction...but in reality its 100% digital.

Must say it works the other way for me - with APS-C, there was an alternative angle of view argument to use film, and some lenses - such as my fisheye - only really made sense with film. With the EOS 5D, that no longer holds good, and I use much less film.

I carry two fully charged batteries, and since I bought my dSLR I've only needed to use my film body once when I forgot to charge one of them.

I like Rhys carry a film body as back up, (until I get the D3, then the D200 will be the back up) so I answered 100% digital.

I use both, but get more satisfaction out of film. Several reasons.
It is a slower process and I fully believe that care taken at this stage results in better work all round. Also the magic of seeing negatives correctly developed or a print developing in the dish has never left me
The inherant quality, and I don't mean just resolution, is in my opinion better with film. It has a more pleasing look to the finished print. In the words of my wife, a digital print lacks 'soul'.
Like procesing slide films I find digital an all to mechanical process with little input from the user. I know that I can switch to manual and do it that way but it is just too convienient and doesnt present a challenge to the user.
The longevity of images is still in doubt. I have cd's burnt in 2000 that are no longer usable, but I have negatives from the 60's that still print as if they were made yesterday

For my hobby I use 100% film, it's what I get the most pleasure out of. I love the whole process; from pulling a developed film out of the tank, viewing medium format transparencies on the lightbox, seeing a print appear in the tray. To loading and unloading the camera, labelling negs and trannies and using older cameras. I agree with John too, I just prefer the charactistics of film. I may be blinkered  but as long as I'm happy what does it matter.
For snapshots and record shots at work I use digital. I have a Fuji S5500 bridge camera and it's the most irritating piece of cr*p to use - slow, laggy, unpredictable focus/metering. I've taken a couple of good photos on it and it still narks me that they are not on film. 
Recently I realsied that I wasn't listening to much music and it's because I was using mp3s on the PC. I was skipping tracks and flitting about all over the place and eventually the pleasure disappeared, I'm now back to loading CDs into the player and the whole process is a joy again. I must be set in my ways.

I use both, but find that I treat digital as "colour happy snaps", I supppose because colour dosn't realy cut it for me. When I'm feeling serious I use 10 x 8 mono and make wet contact prints.
Having said that I'm looking to replace my E20 that I bought 2nd hand, possibly with a Canon 5D (That's serious) and work on my colour more.
