Christmas message
      #587110 - 24/12/2007 15:50

My dear Members of the Forum

As Santa makes his way towards the virtual chimney above this imaginary establishment we should all sit for a moment to consider what he might be bringing us this year. Of course there will be some who, due to their bad behaviour, will find that Santa doesn’t call at all, but those members that have played by the rules all year, and who have bought AP at least once a week can sleep tonight with the certainty that their conduct will be rewarded.

If I were Father Christmas you’d all get a sparkling new camera this year, except for those who prefer old ones of course. I’d have a sleigh filled with DSLRs, field cameras and TLRs, plus film, chemicals and memory cards for your stockings. You haven’t all been good all year, but you have all been a lot of fun.

Luckily, I’m not Santa, as that would cost me a bleeding fortune, but from here at least I can send my sincerest thanks to you all for your contribution to AP life during the last year. This forum has been a constant inspiration to me and the AP team, as well as a place of great companionship and cheer. Thanks to all who have posted messages, pictures, help, jokes and information here, and special thanks to the moderators for keeping the ship on-track and in good order.

Please accept my best wishes to you all this Christmas, and I hope you and your families have a most enjoyable day.

Damien Demolder

Darn - I'm wondering just how close I came to a shiny new Nikon D3 there! :-)

But anyway, thanks Damien, and my very best wishes to you and all yours, and the rest of the team. I genuinely think 2007 has been the best year for AP in the 34 years that I've been reading it. I look forward to more of the same in 2008! :-)

Well Damian, maybe you can do something like this ... Either the New Year issue or in 3 month's time (!), you could provide cardboard cut-out of a selection of cameras in the AP ...

Oh dear, I only bought the mag once per week, not more often.
Guess that means I won't get a visit tonight

Same to you Damien, Merry Christmas and thanks to you and your team for the continued support of the forum. I can't begin to tell you how the members here have helped me and not just with my photography. I was more than sceptical when IPC took over and things changed around here but soon realised there is still the same level of camaraderie.

Damn you'd make a great Santa and can pop down my chimney anytime, just as long as you dropped off a D300

Damien, a very happy Christmas to you and your team, but especially to Garry and Angela for all that they've brought to the forums. It's a fun, vibrant place and long may it reign.

He still pretends he's Father Christmas and he boasts about the focal length of his lens but he is notorious for 'forgetting' to remind people to allow for the multiplier factor. Divide anything he says by 1.5

Merry Christmas Damien to you and the AP team. Thanks for all your hard work bringing such an excellent magazine to us. The cover of the Christmas issue says 'Be inspired' and it's inspiration that I've found again thanks to the mag and the forum.

Cheers and all the best.

From a far away reader of over 40 years standing, and always a couple of weeks late, except when I've been in London and managed to get it 'hot off the press' so to speak.........Wishing you and all the team a Very Merry Christmas and a an increased distributional New Year!
