JUST BOUGHT A BRONICA SQ AI AND i AM LOOKING INTO BUYING A LIGHT METER SO I CAN GET THE RIGHT EXPOSURE FROMOUT SIDE BUT I WANST SURE WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST LIGHT METER TO BUY?? JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST AS i DONT WANT TO PAY MUCH FOR A OUTDOOR LIGHT METER.

It really depends how much you've got to spend. A decent Polaris meter, which will tackle most jobs you can throw at it, can be had for around £130 from Warehouse express. For the time being, I would suggest that you don't need a spot metering facility. Ambient reflected and incident capability is really all you need at the moment. A lot of meters come with flash metering as standard; if so, great. Your best bet may be to buy second-hand. Again, unless it comes at a ridiculously low price - in which case I'd avoid it anyway, you don't need spot metering. I can personally recommend Gossen meters and I think if you can find a half decent Lunasix F or Profisix or one of the later models, you won't go far wrong and you won't pay too much either. Getting a meter is one thing. Learning to use it properly is another. Read up about hand-held metering, understand what the meter's telling you and you'll be alright.

which Gossen meter do u mean as I am looking at this one at the moment.

The meter(s) I was referring to (Profisix, Lunasix F) are no longer produced, although you'd probably find a decent example on fleabay. These meters have a dial upon which any/every EV can be read out. The Digisix to which you refer looks like a decent enough meter and it's not a bad price if you're determined to buy new. A good strategy might be to look at examples from other manufacturers and compare spec. and price. My personal preference is Gossen (as you've probably guessed) because I know they're well made and built to last. My Profisix has worked perfectly for 24 or more years despite being bashed around a bit. Other posters to this thread will recommend other makes and they'd be right to do so. Have a look at what Sekonic and Polaris have to offer. Whichever one you get, learn how to use it properly. And if you have a problem there are plenty of people here to help you through it. The Digisix is an excellent little meter. I've several meters, a Lunasix F, Weston Euromaster II, Pentax Spotmeter V and a Digisix, and used correctly, they all give good results. The Digisix is so small it gets used most, as I can always carry it with me. That gives a digital EV readout which is transferred to the dial to get shutter speed/aperture combinations. As long as you don't need a spot option, it's a fantastic little meter IMHO.
