Hello from Mid Wales! This part of the forum seems a bit quiet so I thought I'd jump in and make a post. I do hope I'm not the only one on the course!

I have spend all morning down in Old Town, Hastings. photographing the fishing boats as they came in, I got home downloaded them, and I still don't think I have a good one that shows real impact, you get very critcal of your own work!! I think the only thing I achieved this morning is losing my lens cap!!! : very fustrating Sue

Could be worse, you may have saved the lens cap and lost the camera

I'm generally keeping an eye out for opportunities in all 10 sections to begin with in the hope that I manage to find 5 presentable pictures amongst them.

Hi I have had my pack for a couple of months and I am about to submit my first module, we don't seem to get many posts in this discussion group, maybe they are all to busy? How are you getting on?

Hi Claudiamattsmum. I have just started the course and last week, submitted my first module in an attempt at achieving greatness !! (Ahem). I certainly had to think about the five choices as well as trying to get around Photo-shop Elements 5 ( Didn't know which to study first). I have had some sleepless nights wondering what the response will be - expecting the worst of course but determined to plough on.
It certainly has started me thinking in a new photographic light.

Hello again to claudiamattsmum and all you out there,
Just to say that I have received my first module results and they are very encouraging. All the fears I had have been brushed aside by my Tutor. To help any newcomer I will set down my initial fears, so that they may see similar feelings in themselves.
My first worry was that my images were not good enough to send. This meant many attempts to achieve what I thought were the right ones to submit. The second worry was that, after I had renamed the images and made sure that the .jpg was added,I didn't see the .jpg on the images when I copied them to the memory stick. This made me repeat the process a number of times before I decided to let them go and suffer the consequences. I really need not have worried, all was well there.
I found that my Tutor was very encouraging and made some very constructive comments, and I found that after looking again at my attempts, I could see the changes he had indicated and that needed to be made.
The uncertainties are all wrapped up in the first module. Worrying about what to send, and if you get it right, well, you need not worry. Your Tutor will support you and guide you. I have found this and am now working on Module two with a lot more confidence. I hope that this is of some use to somebody out there.

Your situations sounds familiar to mine. It has taken me forever to get module 1 finished, what with work and family life but I did it!!!! Yeah!!!
I had to think about the subjects but I finally came up with 5 pictures. I am sending the pictures in for marking tomorrow and I just hope i have labelled everything right and put in my text everything that I should have done. I really enjoyed the project but I am still struggling with taking a good picture and getting the lighting and shutter speed correct. Oh well its all trial and error with me at the moment lol.
I have uploaded module one onto my flickr

Hey Guys, ordered my course this week, should be here on friday. Looking forward to starting. Just brought my first Digital SLR and don't have a clue how to use it in manual mode! Pictures are amazing in Auto mode, however when i try in manual mode different story. Hopefully the course will help me take better photos. Anyone finished the first module yet? Tom.
