Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary
      #626432 - 13/03/2008 12:03

There will be a big bash on July 4th - 6th 2008 at Butlins Minehead if anybody wants to see hundreds of big Harleys dressed to the nines.

Oh yes. I love the look of the other and would prefer it, naturally, but it's a tad impractical for me (belly/tank interface ). I prefer a more 'sit-up-and-beg' attitude.

Well, the new Harley this year may be up your street. More an upright streetfighter with less of the cruiser look:

I'm with you Fen, ideally a Speed Triple, but if you're going to out muscle a Harley, you might as well go the whole HOG (Geddit? )

Looks better, but does it still sound like spare change being rattled in a beggar's cup?

And do they come with brakes these days?

Heard one of those fore'n'aft Trumps a while back - sounded like a Massey Fergusson missing on one cylinder!

Rode a '24 Harley for a couple of years - much like Trigger's broom though... had a '79 (Shovel) engine (taken out to 88 ci) and the '24 headstock (including the frame number...) had been grafted onto a '78 frame (dropped 2" with VERY wideglide 'tripple trees' and 2" under forks). Handled like a sack of xxxx but went like xxxx off a shiny shovel! Any readers of BSH in the early '90s might have seen it featured as "Big Fat F'koff HOG".

There's a good reason for HD riders to have that sh*t eatin' grin - let the grin drop and your fillings get shaken out!!!

Never owned one myself but I did have a very pleasant test ride on a Sporster a couple of years ago from Surrey HD. Almost persuaded the ‘management’ that that was just what she wanted me to have but before I jumped they closed the shop down. Got a friend with a Buell which is an amazing thing to ride as it’s like a 1 litre 125 the wheelbase is so short. Goes, brakes and turns like a mad thing but you still get the full Harley experience, bits fall off and it’s totally impractical. Well to a BMW owner anyway.
