Hi all
Im looking to get my first SLR and i need some advice, i've been looking and reading the magazines etc . . .
Im stuck between a Canon 450D with a 55-250 and a 18-55 both with image stablisation in the lenses for £619 - £50 cashback
Or i've seen the Nikon D80 which has got some good reviews
Also been reccommend the Olympus E520 with 2 lenses, the bigger one going up to 150mm for around the £400 mark.
I want a camera for everyday use but i want something special to get some good shots when i go to grand prix's and football matches etc.
All opinions would be appreciated, i know everyone has a different opinion on cameras but as many views as possible would be good....
Thanks folks Brendan

The only view that matters is your own. Try them out for yourself and see which suits you - much more useful than lots of people telling you why a particular camera or brand suits them. All three are decent cameras, so you can't actually go wrong as long as you get what's right for you.

Each of the cameras you mention is capable of decent results. The main difference is really how they handle and what they feel like in your hands. I think most would advise popping along to a camera shop and trying each of them and making your mind up yourself.

Throw Pentax and Sony into the equation as well. Then look and handle all the ones within your price range. Then choose.
All are capable of producing excellent images. Reviews mean virtually nothing.

They are all good, as everybody says chose the one that you feel happy with. However I personally would not make a decision on a new body until after next Friday as Panasonic have promised a new model with "Unique features". No idea what these are but they might (just possibly) be the launch of the micro 4/3 range, and that could be worth considering.
